Hi everyone! First of all, thank you for taking your time to open up my page. I have created this fundraiser to raise money to volunteer abroad in Costa Rica for three weeks. I recently became a certified EMT and am working part-time for an ambulance company in Sonoma County. I have always wanted to be in the medical field and working as an EMT is my first step to becoming a Physician Assistant. I am currently a full-time student at Sacramento State, in my second semester of my Junior year. After I complete my bachelor's degree I will be applying to PA schools but I need over 1,000 hours of patient care experience and volunteer hours to apply. A year ago, if you were to ask me about my career path I would have not been so sure because I was so focused on playing volleyball in college, unfortunately I suffered a career ending injury; however, it has opened many other doors for me and I am blessed to be able to start my journey in the medical field sooner than I expected. Being in the medical field means a lot to me because I love to help people and I find a lot of joy in it. The purpose of this campaign is to help me raise money to cover the expenses for my volunteer abroad opportunity. This money will go towards my plane ticket to Costa Rica, my registration fees, and program fees. I will be taking this opportunity through a trusted company called International Volunteer HQ and the registration/program fees will cover the costs of my transportation, meals, housing, in-country support, passport fees, travel insurance, medical supplies and other accommodations. While volunteering abroad in Costa Rica, I will be tasked with providing basic medical care to patients in specialized living facilities and working with people who are physically and mentally disabled, elderly patients, or working with HIV-infected children.
