Our Region

The American Indian communities in the Four Comers face tremendous challenges – drug and alcohol abuse, persistent unemployment and a huge educational achievement gap – but too often these challenges overshadow their untapped strengths. Our youth are full of potential, and they will seize the opportunity to rise above these challenges if we give it to them.

The Need

Since 2001, over 300 Teach For America - New Mexico corps members have impacted nearly 47,000 students in the Four Corners area. Most of the funding used to recruit, select, train, and place these corps members has been raised by Teach For America outside of New Mexico. This year, however, with the loss of Teach For America's federal funding, our region must raise $1.15 million dollars in order to ensure we can bring 50 new corps members to New Mexico and Arizona next year.

We Need Your Help

To hit our $1.15 million funding target, we aim to raise $90,000 through small gifts from individual donors. If we do not hit this goal, then we will lose 5 corps members who otherwise could have taught in New Mexico's classrooms. Nearly 300 students would not have the opportunity to have a Teach For America teacher.

Please help ensure that Teach For America can bring 45 corps members to New Mexico and Arizona next year by donating to the community of your choice. If each community raises $5,000, then we will hit our goal.
