Cornerstone's Commitment to Education
Teach For America is a key Strategic Partner of the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation and in addition to supporting the mission of this important organization with our talent management software and services, we have the immediate opportunity to have an even more direct impact!
Why do more? Because throughout the United States, there exists an ever-widening academic achievement gap that separates kids who grow up in poverty from their peers in higher-income communities.
Teach For America is working to build a growing movement of leaders, now 33,000 strong, who are committed to working at every level of education, from teaching to policy, to ensure that all children have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. Teach For America’s tireless mission to help close this achievement gap has inspired the Cornerstone OnDemand team to sponsor our very own Teach For America teacher and directly influence the opportunities available to students in Cornerstone’s Los Angeles hometown!
Teach For America's Impact in Los Angeles
With our global headquarters in Los Angeles, we at Cornerstone have a vested interest in helping to empower our fellow citizens and provide all children with every opportunity to reach their potential. With three-quarters of the schools in LAUSD labeled as "failing" under the current federal guidelines, we must ensure that the nation’s second largest and most diverse school district, serving over 700,000 students, has access to the best and brightest teachers to change the current trajectory of our future leaders.
Teach For America teachers provide a powerful picture of what is possible when we put smart, cool, dependable, and visionary people in classrooms – they produce remarkable results. For example, Corey Harkey, a 2010 corps member teaching 8th grade science at PUC CALS Charter Middle School, proves what is possible. Through hard work, setting a clear vision, and strong leadership, he led 95% of his students to score proficient or better on the California Standards Test in May, nearly doubling LAUSD’s average of 51%. Corey is just one of the 260 first and second-year Teach For America Corps member teachers working in schools throughout Los Angeles.
How You Can Help: Raise $5,000 to Sponsor a Teacher!
You have the power to help end educational inequity in less than 20 seconds! By donating, you personally contribute to the recruiting, selection, and ongoing professional development of an educator in LAUSD who is empowered to make a positive difference in the lives of L.A. students.
HELP us reach our $5,000 goal, and we will be matched with a TFA corps member for the unique opportunity to establish a relationship with an Los Angeles Unified public school teacher and his or her classroom, learning first-hand about the challenges and opportunities facing the public school system, our teachers and leaders in classrooms, and our students.
Cornerstone believes that access to educational opportunities can transform lives, and your donation to help us reach our goal of $5,000 will sponsor a Teach For America teacher to make a positive difference in the Los Angeles communities where we need them most.
