BIOBUS: DRIVING SCIENCE EDUCATION

More Info

About the BioBus

The BioBus is an immersive microscope research laboratory housed in an upcycled 1974 transit bus. Aboard the BioBus, passionate research scientists work side-by-side with students to unveil the hidden marvels of the microscopic world around them. In the four years since our inception, we've shared the inspiring and empowering process of scientific discovery with over 50,000 students of all ages and backgrounds across the United States. Students often leave the bus proclaiming, “This is the best field trip ever!” or “I want to be a scientist!”. It is our mission to provide innovative inquiry-based science education to all who need it. With your help, we plan to visit 100 schools and communities reaching over 20,000 individuals during the 2012-2013 school year.

Over 65% of the schools the BioBus visits are in low-income communities. These are the teachers, principals and students most starved for a hands-on science experience, but their limited budgets often don't allow them to bring programs like the BioBus to their schools. That's where you come in. Every $10 of your tax-deductible donation ensures one more student will leave the BioBus proclaiming "I want to be a scientist!" Thanks to the creative folks at Fundly, you can even help bring the BioBus to a specific community you'd like to support by looking at the "Teams" section of the page.
