Back to School Funding

From Danielle Davis

I have reached a stopping point in my career, and it's time for me to return to school for my master's in social work. I've struggled as a late diagnosed autistic. I have reached a breaking point; I ask for your help.

Hi everyone,

I am a late diagnosed high masking autistic woman, who has been struggling with my career. I used to manage a big box retail store, and I was very successful, but, like so many high masking autistic people, I eventually started to have trouble with social interactions. I don't know how much you know about late diagnosed autistic people, but it's very common for us to have trouble finding suitable work later in life.

I have been fired from several jobs in a row now, due to my inability to react appropriately in social situations. Because of my difficulty with interpreting social cues, I have been the target of bullying in my recent jobs. I have tried to respond appropriately, with kindness, but I'm just not...likeable, in many situations.

I'm still emerging from the pandemic, and I've discovered my old "masks" don't work like they used to. I am dorkier than ever, and I am no longer socially successful in the workplace. But I still have so much to give, and I'm highly passionate about helping my fellow humans cope with their emotional struggles.

I want to contribute to society by becoming a licensed clinical social worker. I have always had a heart for connectig with others, and I started this program back in 2004, but was never able to secure the funding to complete it. Now, the funding has become available, but I have to figure out how to support myself during the application/enrollment process.

As of right now, I have been unable to secure a job that I can do with my disability. While I am still searching for part time work to cover my living expenses, I really need some support in the meantime.

I live as a minimalist, and I can live on less than $2000 per month. I must support my sweet dog, Chomps, and his little baby kitty, Diego in addition to meeting my own needs.  I am a highly frugal individual, and your money will go to basic living expenses, including food, rent, utilities and transportation.

Please consider supporting me as I work to get back on my feet and return to my graduate program. Thank you so very much for considering me for your support.

love,

Danielle
