More Info

Alina Monosova, a high-profile businesswoman and public administration specialist, was born on February 13, 1990 in Moscow.

Alina spent her childhood years in the Sokolniki area, where she first attended a preparatory school and then Public School No. 315 (the same school her father and older brother went to before her). Then the girl studied at the Premier private school but not for long, as it was too difficult for her to get there — two hours for a one-way commute. From the fourth grade until graduation, the future businesswoman studied at another educational institution — MES (Moscow Economic School).

Alina was a well-rounded child; she was good at both humanities and technical sciences. For a long time, she could not decide what career to choose for her future; she dreamed of various professions, but work on television appealed to her the most.

After graduating from MES, Alina Monosova entered MGIMO, where she received a bachelor's degree in international business and business administration. She had plans to study in London, but due to circumstances, had to stay for her master’s at MGIMO. Her parents did not consider a bachelor's degree a complete higher education and thought it necessary for her to get a master's degree as well. Monosova chose the International Institute of Management for her postgraduate thesis and attended evening classes while working at the same time.

She still has only the warmest memories from her student days and likes to reminisce about that time; she says that all MGIMO graduates have a special bond and treat each other very kindly.

Career Achievements

Alina’s professional biography began when she was still a student. She fulfilled her childhood dream and got a job at the commercial management office of Channel One. Monosova's experience there helped her realize that it was not the field she would like to stay in. The reality of television was not at all as interesting as she imagined as a child.

Alina quit this job and decided to pursue her dream of studying in London. As a MGIMO graduate, she had no problem getting into the Global Management exchange program at Regent's University. To this day, she considers it a very valuable experience, unlike her short uninspiring television career. She enjoyed studying and spending time with her classmates from different parts of the world and discovering new cultures, different worldviews, customs, and traditions. She still keeps in touch with the friends she made there.

After graduating from university in the UK, Alina Monosova returned to Moscow. At the time, she was still not sure what she wanted to do professionally. So she decided to follow her father’s advice and continue the family tradition by starting a career in the construction industry. The Monosovs had always been supportive of each other and Alina was sure that her family would approve of any decision she made.

Her first place of work was the marketing and sales department at Moskapstroy-TN. Many different projects and a close-knit team made it an enjoyable experience for Alina. Monosova accumulated a wealth of knowledge by interacting with her more experienced colleagues. After 10 years, she became vice president and was responsible for:

  • commercial real estate construction;

  • investment projects;

  • management processes and many other areas.

But Alina Monosova would not let herself stop there and simply enjoy a stable job. All her life, she has been striving for new knowledge and personal growth. And so, to enrich her professional experience, she started as chief investment officer at Skama Group — another company involved in construction.

Studying Psychology

While working at Skama Group, Alina began to study psychology. Initially, it was the desire to solve personal problems and find answers to long-standing questions that brought Monosova to this field. But Alina became so engrossed in studying herself that she decided to delve into this science and get a formal education.

Monosova finished her degree in Personality and Business Psychology at Moscow State University. Then she was trained as a coach and completed the first level of a Gestalt training program (diving deeper into Gestalt therapy was not on her to-do list).

She says that every psychologist who works with people must have a degree in clinical psychology, and not just a training certificate. It is very important to understand and feel the fine line between a normal mental state and conditions that require psychiatric medication. Otherwise, you may not only fail to help, but seriously harm the person and worsen their physical and mental well-being.

Soon, Alina realized that working as a psychologist was not her true calling, but she was still very interested in understanding human feelings, emotions, and motivations as part of her personal development.

For some time, she participated in the Odna Volna project aimed at helping clients with specific requests to find coaches and mental health specialists based on the methods and fields of expertise of the latter. But Monosova did not want to continue with it further and eventually decided to cancel the project. Alina calls herself a business-oriented person and says that a psychology-related career is not for her.

Present Time

Alina Monosova no longer works at Skama Group, she continues to study psychology for personal development, and is currently doing a master's degree in Health Psychology to satisfy her desire for knowledge. Her latest project is a Telegram channel about style and fashion. For now, it is just a hobby, but perhaps over time it will grow into a full-fledged business. Another one of her hobbies is golf.

Monosova’s life experience is an excellent example of how you can switch careers, venture into various fields, and get a new degree for your personal needs and not for the sake of your future career. Alina achieved success as a leader, as a business consultant, and as an author of her own projects. And she does not intend to stop there — she continues to try her hand at different trades in search of something that will truly inspire her.
