The Problem of Educational Equity
Today, just 8% of kids growing up in low-income communities graduate from college by age 24. But it doesn’t have to be that way. A growing body of evidence shows that all students can achieve at the highest level.
How We’re Working to Solve This Problem
Teach For America is growing the movement of leaders who work to ensure that kids growing up in poverty get an excellent education.
We recruit and select a diverse group of leaders who teach for two years in a low-income community.
We provide intensive training, support and career development that helps these leaders succeed with their students.
We foster the leadership of our alumni, who become lifelong agents of change, working at every level of education, policy and other fields to ensure all children have an opportunity to receive an excellent education.

By joining a campaign you are helping to fuel our work and build the movement to end educational inequity. The money raised from campaigns supports operations of our program including:
- Recruiting leaders from hundreds of college campuses across the country
- Providing training at our summer institutes and ongoing professional development
- Offering career development services, including alumni mentors, newsletters, discussion groups, webinars, resume drives, interview preparation tools, self-assessments, and a robust job board
