Donate to an overly educated journalist

From Stassi Olmos

I have a bachelors from USC and a masters from Columbia University. I never imagined I'd be struggling to pay back the masses of students loans after working as a reporter for 8 years, but I could use some help.

More Info

I come from a second generation, hard working Mexican-German-American family. I have three brothers and a foster brother. We never had a lot of money growing up, but we always had what we needed and some. USC and ultimately Columbia Journalism School were always my dream goals. While I did get a little government assistance and received a few small scholarships in my hometown, my mother and I ultimately took out almost equal amounts of students loans for my education at these universities-- most at or near 7% interest. I've been working since I graduated in 2016. I've worked two-year contracts as a multimedia journalist (one-man-band reporter) in Savannah, Georgia/Nashville, Tennessee/Tampa, Florida and now home in Los Angeles. I thought for sure by time I worked my way to a top market, I'd easily be able to pay back my loans, but unfortunately the world is a different place now. Media is struggling, salaries are lower and yet the cost to live in America is only rising by the second. I currently freelance report in LA, having to pay my own healthcare with Covered California, rent, car payment, gas, utilities, insurance, loans... the list goes on. I figured maybe there might be people out there in a different situation that would want to bless someone like me with scholarship funds in reverse. It's worth a shot! If you're unable to help financially, you can always give a follow to any of my social media accounts to support my journalism. @stassiolmos

Thank you kindly and God Bless!
