Why Support Teach For America?
Teach For America delivers exceptional results. A recent study from the University of North Carolina found that Teach For America produces the most effective early-career teachers in North Carolina. Read the study here.
Teach For America attracts talented leaders to North Carolina; these leaders remain committed to fighting for educational equity and excellence.
Our state needs more exceptional leaders to join committed educators across the state.
The Challenge: Double Your Donation Today!
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous national donor, each $5,000 we raise via this webpage will be matched with an additional contribution of $5,000. Every gift counts towards the larger goal, and your gift could be matched dollar for dollar.
If we meet our goal of $5,000, we will generate an additional $5,000 in matching funds. Matching funds are only available until they are exhausted - so donate to support Eastern North Carolina today!
The Eastern North Carolina region is prepared to grow to meet the needs of the children and communities in Eastern North Carolina, but we can't do it without you. Your support will help to ensure we have the funds to support our new corps of teachers. Help us to ensure all students in North Carolina receive an excellent education by sponsoring one of our incoming 2012 corps members to join other committed educators across the state going above and beyond for their students.
About Teach For America - Eastern North Carolina
Teach For America is the national corps of recent college graduates and professionals committed to ending the achievement gap that persists between high and low-income schools in our country. Eastern North Carolina opened as one of the original Teach For America sites in 1990. Despite years of progress, a child’s skin color and ZIP code still predicts his or her future. Students in rural northeastern counties, such as Bertie, Halifax, and Warren, still have drastically different odds of achieving future success than their counterparts in more prosperous parts of North Carolina.
Teach For America - Eastern North Carolina is preparing to bring in 150 new teachers to the highest-need schools in Durham and northeastern North Carolina in the fall of 2012. These teachers will join 100 second-year corps members to make up our largest Eastern North Carolina corps in history.
